Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed Sunday that the first targets of the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front in Lebanon will be the Future Movement and its leaders, noting that remaining silent over the actions of IS and its praise will not protect anyone.
During a speech delivered on the occasion of Resistance and Liberation Day, Nasrallah noted that the danger faced by the region is threatening human existence in the Arab World, adding that this kind of danger is unprecedented.
Addressing the Christians, Sayyed Nasrallah asked: “Who will protect your churches from being destroyed, and your women form being held captive?”
In this regard, Nasrallah called on all the parties in Lebanon and the region to assume their responsibilities and eradicate the threat of the Islamic State, pointing out that the war has become existential.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that the fight was part of a wider strategy to prevent groups like al Qaeda's wing in Syria, Nusra Front, and the Islamic State from taking over the region.
"Our presence will increase whenever it should... Yes, we are not present in one place in Syria and not the other. We will be everywhere in Syria," he said during a celebration to mark the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from south Lebanon in 2000.
Nasrallah also said that an offensive his group is leading in the mountainous region of Qalamoun along the border between Syria and Lebanon will last "until the borders are secured."
He said the residents of the area "will not accept the presence of terrorists and takfiris in any of the Bekaa or Arsal outskirts."
Commenting on the statement of Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq who said that the town of Arsal is occupied, Nasrallah stated: “Let the state work on liberating its occupied town.”
On another note, Hezbollah chief pointed out that the number of airstrikes launched by US-led collation against IS is far less than that launched by Israel against Lebanon during July war of 2006.
