REPORT: Judge Abou Ghaida issues arrest warrants against 5 security forces in Roumieh prison case

Military Investigation Judge of Beirut Riad Abou Ghaida issued Thursday arrest warrants against 5 security forces involved in the Roumieh prison case.

Earlier, Judge Abou Ghaida interrogated the security forces who were arrested on Tuesday within the framework of the investigations into the torture case.

In this regard, sources told LBCI that the investigations revealed the involvement of four new suspects in the abuse of Islamist inmates, noting that Judge Abou Ghaida will listen to their testimonies next Monday.

According to the same sources, the four new suspects are both security personnel and civilians.

On Sunday, a video showing Islamist inmates in Roumieh prison being tortured by security forces was leaked and went viral, spurring outrage among the Lebanese officials, who deemed such acts as disgraceful, unethical and a violation of the constitution.
