REPORT: FPM leader MP Aoun: We got what we wanted

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said his party came out victorious from Thursday's cabinet session, noting that the government will no longer pass any bill without his ministers’ approval.

“We achieved what we wanted from today’s cabinet session,” Aoun said during a press conference following a turbulent cabinet session that was accompanied by violent scuffles between his party’s partisans and the Lebanese Armed Forces outside the Grand Serail.

"No decision will be made [in the cabinet] without our approval,” Aoun said, adding that the decree passed by the government concerning contracts with hospitals was approved by his ministers.

Commenting on the demonstration, which the military said left seven LAF soldiers and a number of FPM protesters injured, Aoun saluted his supporters saying they were “assaulted” by security forces.

“I want to ask the [army]... Why these statements? To justify your assaults on people?” Free Patriotic Movement leader Aoun said, adding “nobody attacked you, you attacked protesters.”
