Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun declared Saturday that the demonstrations of the Free Patriotic Movement were peaceful across the regions, stressing that the convoys were organized across Lebanon did not violate security nor did they obstruct traffic.
Addressing delegations from Aley, MP Aoun said that the attack against the protesters by the Lebanese army troops was staged, noting that the army chief must be held responsible for it.
On another note, he said that the current Parliament is not fit to elect a new president, unless through a national settlement.
On his comments regarding federalism, he clarified that his remarks came within his statements about extended decentralization, denying reports published by newspapers.
“Federalism is one of the solutions and it needs a national agreement; we have never called for federalism, but only when we are defeated will we call for it,” he stated.
