REPORT: Minister of Industry says sorting wastes at the origin a solution for Lebanon’s crisis

Minister of Industry Hussein El-Hajj Hassan stated on Tuesday that resolving Lebanon’s waste crisis should start by sorting wastes at their original sources, adding that sanitary landfills should be established across all Lebanese regions.

Minister El-Hajj Hassan noted in a press conference that the deteriorating waste crisis is the result of political quotas and refraining from holding new tenders, stressing the necessity of finding suitable temporary regions to gather the wastes until the crisis is resolved.

The minister also stated that the establishment of landfills in Lebanon's Eastern Mountain Range is utterly rejected.
