REPORT: Maronite Patriarch Rai urges protesters to not stray away from goal of electing a new president

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai voiced hopes that the “You Stink” activists would not get distracted by “minor” issues and stray away from the goal of electing a new president for the country.

Rai’s comments were made during a visit to women's rights activist Hayat Arslan's residence on his second day of a three-day tour of Aley.

Enraged by a garbage crisis which started in July, thousands of protesters have been taking to streets, demanding the resignation of Environment Minister Mohammad Mashnouq.
