REPORT: Quorum reached for 3rd dialogue session, no tangible progress made

The third round of national dialogue was convened Tuesday in Beirut's Nejmeh square under the chairmanship of House Speaker Nabih Berri.

Sources to LBCI reported that Change and Reform Bloc Chief MP Michel Aoun, who had boycotted the previous session held on September 16, tackled today the electoral law on the basis of 15 electorates.

Meanwhile, Kataeb Party Leader MP Sami Gemayel called upon the government to assume its responsibilities.

Following the session, Speaker Berri met with MP Aoun, Premier Tammam Salam, Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc leader MP Mohammad Raad and Progressive Socialist Party chief MP Walid Jumblatt.

Earlier today, Security forces implemented tight security measures in the vicinity of the parliament as Lebanese officials convened the third national dialogue session, and used cement blocks to prevent demonstrators from heading to parliament.

It is worth noting that upcoming sessions were scheduled for 6, 7 and 8 October.
