REPORT: Scuffles erupt between Change and Reform and Future bloc MPs over energy dossier

Scuffles erupted on Monday between Change and Reform bloc MPs and Future bloc MPs during a ministerial session dedicated to the electricity file.

The standoff took place between MPs Ziad Aswad and Hekmat Dib on the one hand and MP Jammal al-Jarrah on the other.

MP Aswad reportedly threw a bottle of water at the latter.

The meeting was then suspended.

In the wake of the incidents, Change and Reform MP Fadi al-Awar told LBCI “the scuffle came as a result of historic accumulation of disputes within the committee.”

For his part, Change and Reform MP Nabil Nicolas said that “today’s dispute” will not have any impact on Tuesday’s dialogue session.
