REPORT: Hezbollah Secretary General Nasrallah delivers speech marking Ashoura
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah appeared personally to the crowds on Friday in the Sayyed al-Shouhadaa Complex in the Beirut Southern Suburb on the occasion of Ashoura.

Nasrallah delivered a speech whereby he thanked the Lebanese army and all security apparatuses for their efforts deployed to secure the safety of all participants in Ashoura mourning councils.

The occasion commemorates the murder of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed.

On another note, Nasrallah said that the US government wants the region to be under its political, military, security, economic and cultural control.

“The US government wants us to accept Israel under the threat of waging wars against us,” he added.

Nasrallah stressed that the US government is only after the region's oil, gas and fortunes.

Hezbollah leader said that the US and the successive US administrations are the ones to blame for Israel’s actions in the region.

“All US statements about human rights and democracy are worthless because the major dictatorships in the region are sponsored by the U.S.,” he stressed.

As for the Syrian crisis, Nasrallah said that those fighting in Syria today, whether Islamist or secular, are serving the U.S. interests.
