REPORT: Minister al-Mashnouq: Initial plan was to target al-Rasoul el-Aazam-hospital
Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said on Sunday that the Internal Security Forces Information ​Division made an extraordinary achievement by arresting the entire terrorist network responsible for Bourj al-Barajneh double suicide attack in just 48 hours.
 
Al-Mashnouq’s comments were made during a press conference where he noted that the investigations revealed that the initial plan aimed at attacking the al-Rasoul el-Aazam-hospital with five suicide bombers.
 
“The Lebanese people have proven that they do not nurture terrorism,” he stated.
 
In this context, the minister called on all the Lebanese officials to deal with the country’s internal issues in order to find solutions, adding that "Lebanon is not on the international map.”
 
He pointed out that Bourj al-Barajneh attack will not be the last one, reiterating his full confidence in the security apparatuses.
 
He concluded by saying that the political stability is the sole way to achieve peace and security in the country.
 
On Saturday, State Prosecutor Samir Hammoud announced that the Internal Security Forces' Information Division was able to discover the identity of the suicide attacker who detonated himself in Bourj al-Barajneh, adding that procedures are underway to reveal the identity of the second one.

ISF's Information Division has also identified the network that the two suicide bombers were affiliated to.

In this regard, a senior security source reported that the Lebanese authorities arrested five Syrians and a Palestinian suspected of being implicated in the attack.
 
This as the death toll of the twin suicide bombings that hit Beirut’s Bourj al-Barajneh on Thursday (November 12) reached 41 so far.
