REPORT: Waste crisis back to square one

Agriculture Minister Akram Shehayeb vowed on Monday that the garbage disposal crisis will be resolved soon.

Shehayeb’s comments were made after meeting with the committee tasked with following up on the issue.

“We discussed the means to fund the export of the garbage and the file will be resolved soon,” he noted.

“We will hold discussions in the next 48 hours and hope to hold a cabinet session on Wednesday afternoon,” Shehayyeb said.

Lebanon has been suffering from a waste management crisis since the shutdown of the Naameh landfill in July.
