Introduction to the evening news 11-10-2012

The diplomatic war raged between Damascus, Ankara and Moscow after Turkey forced a Syrian civilian plane coming from Moscow to land in Ankara in order to search its cargo before allowing it to continue its trip.               

Reactions and effects of this incident were as follows:                    

Russian President Vladimir Putin postponed his visit to Turkey, originally set for next week, until the third of December.                       

Turkish airlines suspended their flights crossing over the Syrian airspace.                        

In this context, while Damascus has declared that the plane’s cargo is limited to civilian packages and electronic equipment which are allowed to be transported, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan responded by announcing that the plane was carrying Russian-made munitions destined for the Syrian Defense Ministry.                           

On the Lebanese level, the electoral law was referred to an advisory committee which is expected to finalize its work over three weeks.                                    

Meanwhile, a second meeting was held in Jeddah between former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.                             

In this context, LBCI revealed that the discussion focused on the electoral draft law presented by the Kataeb party, the Lebanese Forces and MP Boutros Harb, adding that Geagea also met with a number of Saudi officials.                                 

On another file, LBCI received the summary of the investigation regarding the shooting that targeted one of the fictitious convoys of MP Michel Aoun following his visit to Jezzine. The investigation concluded that there was no shooting and that the car was shot in Tripoli months before the alleged assassination attempt.
