Wazni meets with Alvarez & Marsal head
Caretaker Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni met on Wednesday with Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal James Daniell.
 
Discussions featured high over the options that will be taken regarding the contract signed with the Lebanese state to run a forensic audit into Lebanon's central bank accounts.
 
“We came to assess whether sufficient information was provided by the central bank to allow A&M to start the forensic audit process,” Daniell said following the meeting.
 
Yesterday, Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab called on the central bank to provide Alvarez & Marsal with all the information requested for a forensic audit, warning against any attempt to foil the process.
 
Lebanon is grappling with a financial meltdown that has crashed the national currency against the US dollar, paralyzed banks and prompted a sovereign default. 
 
It hired International auditor Alvarez & Marsal Company this year to audit the central bank - a key demand of the International Monetary Fund and foreign donors which have pressed the indebted state to tackle waste and the rampant corruption.
 
This as sources told LBCI that Daniell is expected to visit President Michel Aoun tomorrow morning (Thursday) at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
