Caretaker Minister of Energy Raymond Ghajar said on Wednesday that a contract has been signed with Iraq to purchase one million tons of black oil to be replaced with quantities that are appropriate for Lebanon’s electricity plants.
Ghajar noted that the amount of Iraqi fuel can provide Lebanon between 4 to 6 hours of electricity a day.
“We do not have the money to bring fuel in place of the fuel that is present in the tanks of the Electricite Du Liban,” he added.
“If it were not for Iraqi fuel, we would not have had electricity,” Ghajar concluded by saying.
