A look into US official Goldrich visit to Lebanon
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs with responsibility for the Levant (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon) Ethan Goldrich limited his visit to Lebanon inside the walls of the US Embassy in Awkar and did not have meetings with any Lebanese officials.
Still, his meeting with Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib took place by coincidence, as US ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea had invited Bou Habib to have lunch with her, which coincided with Goldrich's arrival in Lebanon.
The US official, according to information, had however a remarkable meeting with the International Monetary Fund’s officials in Lebanon.
He reportedly inquired from them about reaching a final program with Lebanon and how the Lebanese are dealing with the required reforms and the obstacles that impede the completion of this process.
This as the US official stressed the necessity of completing these reforms to open the way for Arab and international communities to assist Lebanon.
