Lebanon COVID-19 cases spreading at fast pace
Each year, holiday gatherings are the main cause of the increase in COVID-19 cases in Lebanon.

The upward trajectory of the cases from late October 2022 to January 5, 2023, is shown in a graph that statistician Nabil Rizkallah prepared.

The first five days following Christmas Eve and the second five days following New Year's Eve show two increases.

According to the graph, the decline in PCRs and rapid tests, which has an impact on statistics about the reality of COVID-19 in Lebanon, is the cause of the apparent decrease in infections in the few days that followed New Year's Eve.

Another graph created by Rizkallah explains the pace of the outbreak in Lebanon.

Analyses show that each infected person in Lebanon can transmit the infection to one and a half people, or at a rate of 1.4, which is a high number compared to the same period last year when the rate was then 1.3. It implies that Lebanon's COVID-19 outbreak is spreading quickly.

With an outbreak rate of 1.02 in China and 1.4 in Lebanon, it is evident that the local epidemic is spreading more quickly here despite China's dire health conditions.
