Despite known results, Lebanon braces for new election session
Speaker Nabih Berri is set to schedule a new session dedicated to elect a new president early next week, as announced when the previous session to elect the president was adjourned before the holidays.

Setting a date for a new session with results known beforehand is preferable to holding no session.

Meanwhile, the rejection of several political forces for dialogue, which has been replaced by other side dialogues, particularly those led by MP Gebran Bassil, the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, indicates that the conditions for dialogue are still not ready.

This comes at a time when the Shiite duo is adamant about how crucial dialogue is to break the presidential deadlock.

Likewise, the FPM believes that the presidential election is crucial for Lebanon to cross to a safe shore.

It also considers that conducting this election through dialogue among various Lebanese friends will result in forming a government that works to uphold stability and civil peace as well as the national interests of the Lebanese.

According to Lebanon’s Director General of General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim, there has yet to be a decision over the presidency, and no preferred name exists.

He also adds that internal and external mediation efforts have yet to be effective.

According to informed sources, agreement on the governance plan of the president and the government is the starting point rather than dialogue for the sake of dialogue. Once this issue is resolved, the right candidates to carry out the plan will be discussed.

The sources emphasized that this is the only way to exit the closed presidential circle because the current adopted mechanism prevents parliament from electing a new president.

Despite everything, the solution is still internal. Still, informed sources agree that an international framework must protect any solution to increase the likelihood of success for the next mandate, the future government, and the authority responsible for managing the rescue.

Are the reports of meetings that the French capital will host accurate? and would they achieve the desired goal in the end?
