REPORT: Syrian refugees to hold democratic elections

Syrian refugees who are currently living in the Kelis refugee camp in Turkey will be conducting elections on Thursday to select an administrative council that represents the 13000 Syrian nationals who live inside the camp.

According to Turkey, these elections will allow the Syrians to experience democracy.

The voting age was set at 18 and the candidates must be 30 and above. A woman must be elected in each of the 6 departments in the camp.

The elected candidates will help in providing health, security, educational and religious services in coordination with the local governor.
