REPORT: LAF, ISF take precautionary measures, secure the route of fuel tanks

The situation in Syria today requires that fuel be delivered from Lebanon into its territory; a reality which is nothing short of ironic especially since the Lebanese were the ones once voicing discontent on fuel smuggling from Syria into Lebanon in the past.

However this new reality comes at a price as trucks loaded with fuel have been the target of attacks whilst on the delivery route to and fro Lebanon into Syria with the latest attack occurring on the 5th of January, whereby a truck was forced to off-load.

In this context, the LAF command has taken precautionary measures aimed at minimizing such incidents and ensuring the safety of truck drivers by organizing convoys and patrols.

The Internal Security forces are also in on these procedures, whereby security apparatuses accompanied fuel trucks towards the Masnaa checkpoint border crossing this morning all the way throughout customs.

Thirty to thirty five trucks pass from Lebanon into Syria on a daily basis.
