Introduction to the evening news 16-02-2013

The "war of bribery" between Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and former PM Saad Hariri continues...  

On February 14th, Hariri accused Hezbollah of bribing PM Najib Mikati by sacrificing the party's "share" in the cabinet in favor of the premiere, "on condition of setting the issue of the Resistance's arms aside."  

Today Nasrallah responded to Hariri's allegations and quoted late PM Rafik Hariri as saying: "I'm willing to present my resignation and leave Lebanon but I shall not be in conflict with the Resistance."  

Nasrallah then addressed former PM Saad Hariri and asked him: "These are your father's statements. Did we bribe him to say them?"  

In turn, Hariri said via his twitter account that "the protector of the suspects accused of assassinating martyr Rafik Hariri does not have the right to speak of the latter's history."  

This as, the parliamentary sub-committee tasked to discuss electoral proposal failed to reach a consensus but managed to agree on common points of view and referred the report of ist meeting to Speaker Nabih Berri.  

Meanwhile, sources reported to LBCI that the inmates belonging to Jabhat al-Nusra and the Free Syria Army clashed inside the Roumieh Prison.

On another note, a controversy sparked between PM Najib Mikati and the economic bodies over the issue of financing the ranks and salaries pay scale.

In light of all these tensions, the long-awaited power ship Fatmagül Sultan arrived to Lebanese shores and is expected to start providing Lebanon with electricity withing the few upcoming weeks.
