REPORT: Mother of slain LAF soldier expresses her grief on camera

"My heart aches for the loss of my only son, his sister's keeper."

These were the words of the mother of slain LAF soldier Adnan Monzer (21) upon hearing the news of the death of her son this morning after unknown assailants attacked a Lebanese Army checkpoint in Lebanon's northeastern border village, Arsal, leaving her son and two other soldiers for dead.

"They say you are a martyr of the nation? What nation do they speak of? A nation where officials fight for [parliamentary] seats? May god never forgive them. Our hearts burn for the loss of our children while they battle over seats in the government. Tell the leaders to go with the others, they only seek monetary gains to build their mansions while our children lay beneath the earth. Let them 'rejoice'."
