Lebanese Option Party members scuffled on Sunday with Hezbollah supporters near the Iranian embassy in Beirut, where one person was reportedly killed and several others were wounded.
Sources told LBCI that all the injured are members and supporters of the Lebanese Option Party, an organization led by the March 14 Shiite politician Ahmed Asaad.
Sources close to Ahmed Asaad confirmed to LBCI citizen Hashem Salman's death after sustaining gunshot wounds at the location of the protest.
For its part, the Lebanese Armed Forces-Army Command said in a statement that upon the arrival of a convoy affiliated to a certain political party to the Bir Hassan region to protest Hezbollah’s intervention in the Syrian crisis, a dispute erupted between members of the said convoy and other Lebanese citizens.
The Army Command added that weapons were used in the dispute; thus leading to the injury of a citizen who shortly after died of the wounds he sustained.
The LAF added that its soldiers managed to disperse the crowd, and restore calm.
Despite Lebanon abiding by the self-dissociation policy in regards to the Syrian crisis, its people remain sharply divided with Hezbollah and its allies backing President Bashar Assad's regime.
