• Saudi envoy Assiri: Saudi Arabia supports Lebanon with actions, not only words

Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Ali Assiri told Okaz newspaper on Wednesday that the Saudi kingdom is keen on preserving Lebanon's security and stability.

Assiri added that the Saudi grant to the Lebanese army aims at empowering the military institution to face terrorism amid the regional crises.

According to the daily, Assiri reiterated that Saudi Arabia will support Lebanon with actions and not only words.

• Minister Jreij says government to discuss Iranian grant to LAF on Thursday

Minister of Information Ramzi Jreij told Acharq al-Awsat newspaper on Wednesday that the Saudi grant to the Lebanese Armed Forces will provide the military institution "with all its needs."

Jreij also urged the Lebanese people to embrace the military institution.

According to the daily, Jreij said that the Lebanese government will discuss the Iranian grant to the LAF during Thursday's session.

Jreij concluded by saying that the Lebanese government must make sure whether the embargo on Tehran prohibits Lebanon from accepting arms from Iran.

• Hezbollah must withdraw from Syria and adhere to Lebanon's dissociation policy-security sources

Security sources told al-Watan newspaper on Wednesday that Hezbollah leadership asked Sunnite figures to help in preventing any security chaos and attacks during the Ashoura celebrations.

The same sources urged the Lebanese government to call on Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria and to adhere to Lebanon's dissociation policy.

• MP Majdalani says Future bloc rejects extension of parliament's mandate

Future bloc MP Atef Majdalani told al-Seyassah newspaper on Wednesday that the bloc rejects the extension of the parliament's mandate, noting that lawmakers must adhere to the constitution.

MP Majdalani added that the bloc's top priority is to elect a new president and to hold the parliamentary polls.
