Visitors of Speaker Nabih Berri quoted him as saying on Wednesday that the strike against Hezbollah in Syria aims at boosting the popularity of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The same sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper that Netanyahu marched in Paris against terrorism, and practiced terrorism later on in Syria's Quneitra province.
According to the daily, the sources quoted Berri as saying that the incident will not have an impact on the dialogue taking place between Hezbollah and the Future Movement.
Berri also noted that the security plan will be implemented in the Bekaa region, stressing that the Bekaa will not remain a safe haven for fugitives.
Maronite Bishop Samir Mazloum told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Wednesday that Bkerke supports dialogue among rival Christian parties.
Bishop Mazloum voiced hopes that dialogue among Christians would reach significant results, adding that no Christian party is boycotting Bkerke.
“Our doors are always open to all Christian leaders and the Lebanese people,” he added.
Syrian sources told al-Akhbar newspaper on Wednesday that Qassem Suleimani, Commander of the Quds force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), paid a visit to Damascus on his way to Lebanon.
The same sources added that Suleimani met with the leaders of the Resistance during his stay in Lebanon.
According to the daily, the sources quoted Iranian diplomats as saying that Suleimani’s visit to the region coincided with the progress made in the Iranian nuclear file.
Security sources told An-Nahar newspaper on Wednesday that the implementation of the security plan which was postponed due to the Israeli strike in Syria’s Golan Heights kicked off on Tuesday night.
The same sources added that the leaders gave the security plan the needed political cover during Thursday’s cabinet session, adding that the implementation of the plan is being kept under wraps.
