Press Digest for Sunday March 15, 2015

The following are summaries of today's major stories published in the Arabic press. LBCI does not edit press digest articles for content, giving English-language readers insight into the various views expressed in newspapers across the Arab world.

Former MP Mustafa Allouch stated on Sunday that March 14 forces declared the formation of a politburo to expand the dimensions of negotiations among officials.

Allouch ruled out via the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anbaa the possible return of Progressive Socialist Party Leader MP Walid Jumblatt to the March 14 group, emphasizing that the steadfastness of March 14 forces prevented regional powers from controlling Lebanon and its fate.

Al-Mustaqbal newspaper stated on Sunday that the dossier of Lebanese abducted soldiers gained great momentum after a new Qatari mediator started talks with the kidnappers to secure the release of soldiers.

The newspaper added that Lebanese mediator Ahmad Fliti reported to families of the soldiers that talks with Al-Nusra Front are easy and serious; however, noted that negotiations with the Islamic State are complicated due to conflicts within the organization.

In this context, father of soldier Mohammad Youssef told the newspaper that families of the soldiers were informed that the Qatari mediator visited the mountainous region of Arsal, stressing that a new stage of negotiations was launched and is said to be better than previous talks.
