Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed
Hassan Nasrallah is expected to deliver a televised speech tonight on the occasion
of the Day of Ashura. This will be the Hezbollah top man’s first speech since
the assassination of late Brig. Gen. Wissam Hassan and March 14’s call for
the government’s resignation.
According to sources in
Al-Joumhouria
Daily, Nasrallah’s speech will focus on the notions of martyrdom and the work
of the “Resistance”. He will also be addressing the “Ayoub” spy drone issue and
the latest events in Gaza, Syria and Bahrain, the sources added.
His speech is also expected to
tackle growing sectarianism, in reference to events that took place in Lebanon’s
Sidon last night. He will also be addressing the assassination of Hassan among
other topics.
Imam of the Bilal
bin Rabbah Mosque Sheikh Ahmad Assir told
Al-Joumhouria Daily his accounts on
the clashes that took place last night in Sidon, stating that “Hezbollah had
been provoking them as Sunni’s in the area for a couple of days.” He said that
the “Resistance” movement had draped large provocative posters in “their” areas
in addition to lodging an Israeli crawler inside the city.
Assir said that
upon the placing of the Hezbollah posters, he had called the Minister of
Interior Marwan Charbel in hopes that something would be done. However
according to Assir, the call only led to the removal of one banner leading
partisans to head on “peacefully” to remove another poster.
As they approached the location of
the poster they were shot at by Hezbollah’s supporters leading to the death of
Lubnan Ezzi and Ali Samhoun, Assir said.
Kataeb Chief Amin Gemayel and MP Sami Gemayel will be receiving
March 14 General-Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soaid
Monday afternoon in Bekfaya
whereby the three would be settling old disputes that had lasted over a period
of two years.
As-Safir Lebanese
Daily mentioned that several had attempted to mediate a reconciliation between
the two sides to no avail, however added that today may witness a resolution.
Al-Akhbar Lebanese
Daily published an article in its Monday edition stating information of
Palestinian insurgents leaving Lebanon, bound for Syria. The Daily added that
as many as 12 fighters left the Burj Brajjneh camp lately heading for Damascus.
According to the
article the insurgents stopped in Turkey where they contacted their families
and then continued towards Syria.
Knowledgeable sources
mentioned via al-Joumhouria Daily that several batches of counterfeit
medications remain in Lebanese pharmacies spread across the country.
According to the
Daily several of these medications were withdrawn by the companies involved in
the scandal however a large amount remains in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut.
