The following are summaries of today's major stories published in the

Sources said on Tuesday that the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman made during the
past few hours the last amendments on the independence speech that he will be
delivering on Wednesday evening before judicial authorities.
The sources added to
Al-Joumhouria newspaper that the President will ask
in his speech the judicial authorities to work for the benefit of the Lebanese
people and not on behalf of the politicians and their benefits.
Sleiman will
call for dialogue in order to discuss various files and the situation in the
country including the defense strategy.
In this
context, the President will recall the Baabda Declaration which was issued on
the 11th of June on the basis of dialogue.
Deputy
Elie Marouni said on Tuesday that a clear initiative must be taken by the
Speaker Nabih Berri asking his ministers to resign as a prelude to form a new
cabinet that serves all Lebanese parties.
Marouni
said to
An-Nahar that the suggestion which says that one deputy from each
parliamentary bloc must receive the Armenian President is currently being
studied.
"We insist on boycotting the
cabinet and we will not violate this decision," Marouni concluded.
Sources said on Tuesday that March14
forces decided to boycott the parliamentary sessions that the Speaker Nabih
Berri called for in order to receive the Armenian President Serge Sarkisian, in
solidarity with Gaza.
The sources added to
An-Nahar Daily that the opposition is preparing a series of movements in
solidarity with Gaza and mentioned that a delegation from March14 will meet with
the Armenian President to emphasize on the importance of bilateral ties.
Al-Akhbar newspaper said on Tuesday that the
Imam of Quds Mosque in Sidon Sheikh Maher Hamoud filed a lawsuit on Monday against
the Singer Fadel Shaker before the Public Prosecutor in the South on the charge
of death threats via mobile messages.
In
another context, information were reported in Sidon saying that Shaker sold the
villa he owned in Nabih Berri Avenue-Haret
Saida to a Palestinian businessman who lives in the United Arab Emirates for
more than US $3 million.
It is worth mentioning that another person from Sidon also filed
a lawsuit against Shaker for the same purpose.
Sources close to Iran said to
As-Safir newspaper that the Syrian
regime will not be toppled despite the efforts exerted by various regional and international allies.
The sources
added that another 20 months would pass, similar to those that have surpassed without the regime falling.
In this
context, sources said that Iran considers that Syria plays a pivotal role in the
opposition role and the resistance movement adding that Tehran is not ashamed of providing
political and economic support to Damascus in order to "face the conspiracy."
The sources added that President Bashar Assad's regime is still
supported by the majority of the people adding that if others want to adopt
democracy in Syria, its mechanisms are clear and its simplest rule is the electoral
process that reflects the will of the Syrian people.
- Efram to continue his political tour after 3 weeks
Al-Akhbar newspaper said on Tuesday that the President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists
Nehme Efram is getting prepared to travel for almost 3 weeks.
After his return, Efram will
proceed in his political tour which is based on economic issues in Keserwan in
light of the increasing talks regarding his expected candidacy for the Parliamentary
elections with March14 forces.
