Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday called for Arab political and financial support for the Palestinian people against what he described as “Israeli intransigence.”
At an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo at the request of Palestine, Abbas said Israel has not respected its agreements with the Palestinian Authority since 1993, slamming US policy on the Middle East.
“Israel has disrupted relevant agreements, trampled on international laws and disrespected the United Nations resolutions, all under the support of the United States. How can we solve the Middle East issue in this case?” said Abbas.
Palestine said it calling for the Sunday emergency meeting was aimed at tackling the Deal of the Century, or the Middle East peace plan that the United States intends to declare soon for excluding Jerusalem.
In a statement following the meeting, the Arab League reaffirmed political and economic supports for Palestine, and reiterated support for the two-state solution on the 1967 borders.
