Public facilities, maritime, rail and urban transport, as well as the majority of private companies were almost closed in Greece on Monday due to a 24-hour general strike called by unions of public and private sector workers to protest against price hikes.
Public transportation in Athens was operating on Mondays, but at the pace adopted on Sundays, while grocery stores were closed on Mondays, the day after Labor Day.
This as 9000 protesters took to the streets in Athens to demand the Greek government to take more procedures to protect the purchasing power against the growing inflation.
