Professor of Medicine, Ali Taher, was recognized as the number one Hematology Researcher in Lebanon and Asia and among the Top 50 Researchers in the World in the prestigious AD Scientific Index 2023.
Professor Ali Taher is highly acclaimed for his work in benign hemoglobinopathies, primarily focusing on the prevention and management of Thalassemia patients.
His significant contribution to benign hematology is not only reflected by his extensive publication record but by the several awards he won for his contribution to research and education.
For years, Professor Taher has been actively working in education and mentoring and sharing his extensive knowledge with young colleagues, which led him to become a valuable mentor for many young physicians. Besides being a medicine professor, Taher is also an associate vice president for medical advancement and communications and the director of the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC).
In 2011, the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) Fellowship awarded Taher in appreciation of his work in advancing knowledge and research.
Taher was also recognized in 2012 as a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) from Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) for his comprehensive work on thalassemia intermedia, which unraveled the morbidity behind the disease.
