At COP28, Macron calls on G7 nations to stop using coal before 2030

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron urged G7 countries during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai to "commit to ending (the use of) coal" before 2030.

Macron stated before world leaders that continuing investments in coal are "illogical" given the goal of combating climate change.

He emphasized the necessity to initiate a complete transition away from coal.
