Algerian-Libyan relations thaw as leaders meet

The Algerian News Agency announced on Tuesday that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika held a meeting today with Libya's National Transitional Council Chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil in the presence of Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

The meeting was the first of its kind in terms of Algerian-Libyan relations, given that Algeria was the last country in the region to recognize the National Transitional Council.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the inaugural summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
