US consulate in Italy evacuated after bomb alert

The US consulate in central Milan was evacuated on Tuesday after a bomb alert, a police officer said.

Police were still on the premises after being called in by consulate employees when they received a suspicious letter that mentioned an explosive device, the officer said.

No more details were immediately available.
