UN's Ban Ki-moon urges Israel and Palestine to "have patience with peace talks"

The Jordanian state-run Petra news agency reported on Thursday that the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged both the Israelis and the Palestinians to have "patience" with peace talks in a bid to the negotiations a chance at success.

Ban’s call came after he held a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh in Amman, in which he reiterated the U.N.'s support to the peace talks between the two sides.

Israeli and Palestinian negotiators held talks on Wednesday in a new round of direct discussions after a three-year break. The last round of peace talks ended weeks after they were launched in September 2010 over disputes on settlements.

Ban Ki-moon is carrying out a tour in the Middle East region, visiting Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
