Iran to name first female ambassador, spokeswoman
          
Iranian media reports said on Tuesday that Iran is set to name a woman ambassador and a spokesperson for the foreign ministry in a first in the Iranian Islamic republic’s history.      

Reports added that Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will issue a final decision “within a week.”            

Iran’s newly elected President Hassan Rouhani, has reportedly asked the government to appoint women to high-level posts in the Islamic republic.       

Rouhani has already named two women: Elham Aminzadeh, who holds a doctorate in law, as vice president for parliamentary affairs, and Parvin Dadandish as his women's affairs adviser.              

His predecessor as president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, appointed Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi as the republic's first-ever female minister.
