Washington: Iran’s threat to shut Hormuz Strait “irrational”
The U.S. described Iran’s threat to shut the Strait of Hormuz, the route for tankers carrying oil from the Persian Gulf, as “irrational”, adding that international sanctions that began to yield the desired result, especially on the oil sector, is what is turning Iranians into hostile people.

On the other hand, a U.S. senior official said that a deal to sell 84 American F-15 combat jets to the KSA represents a “strong message” that the U.S. attaches importance to security in the Gulf.

The official added that this deal will enhance Saudi Arabia’s defense and deterrence capacities in the face of foreign threats to its sovereignty.
