Iran displays locally made helicopter, drone
Iran has displayed its first locally made rescue and training helicopter and a commercial drone.

The inauguration Tuesday of the helicopter, named after Sorena, a Persian general in the first century B.C., came during an airshow in the Persian Gulf Kish Island.

The helicopter can carry four people and is capable of flying up to 14,000 feet. It has a 300-horsepower engine.

The drone, the Ababil-3 or Swallow-3, is able to fly for eight hours and can reach 12,000 feet.

Since 1992, Iran has begun a self-sufficient military program under which it produces everything from mortars to torpedoes and jet fighters to submarines.
