Israel: Recent rockets fired from Sinai
The two rockets that landed near towns in the deep south of Israel over the weekend were fired from Sinai, a senior Israeli security source reported Sunday.

The rockets were linked to the Egyptian presidential election, he confirmed.

Two rockets crashed into open desert areas in southern Israel, the military said Saturday, causing no damage or injuries.

In April, Israel accused militants operating in the volatile Sinai Peninsula of lobbing a rocket that slammed into the southern resort town of Eilat, which also caused no injuries. Egypt denied that claim.

Sensing the growing threat, Israel has increased its surveillance on the Egyptian border and is building an electronic barrier along the 230 kilometer (150 mile) frontier in a bid to keep out militants and illegal migrants.
