Maliki highlights importance of reaching political solution for Syria

Iraqi PM Nouri Maliki confirmed Sunday the importance of reaching a political solution for Syrian crisis, highlighting his country’s readiness to support the efforts exerted by the international community in order to spare the country further bloodshed.

During a meeting with an EU delegation, Maliki urged the international community to block foreign interference that would aggravate the situation in Syria.

Maliki also voiced concern over the escalation of violence leading to a high civilian death toll in the country.
