Short skirts banned in Bulgarian schools, boys focus on studies

Bulgarian schools, known for their strictness during the communist era, reintroduced rules of decency into the school system after teens have become flirtatious in corridors and hemlines of skirts started migrating northward.

24 Hours newspaper reported on the first day of school, that the regulations enforced by a high school forbade students from public display of affection in classes or anywhere on campus.

According to the newspaper, similar regulations were also applied at a school in Shumen eastern Bulgaria noting that schools prohibit students from wearing “risky footwear” including ice skates and any shoes with blades.

Showing underwear, eccentric jewelry and body-hugging clothing have become a familiar sight in the elite schools. A Bulgarian teacher told AFP news agency that it is hard to keep the attention of male students when female students are wearing indecent clothes.

Facil Livsky high school banned girls from wearing “skirts 10cm above the knee, 4cm heels and crop tops”.
