Abbas: Palestinians to respond should Israel execute settlements project

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas warned on Tuesday that the Palestinians will respond should Israel execute the construction of 3000 new settlements in eastern Jerusalem.

Abbas who spoke to the Turkish parliament said: "If this matter will become real, we will respond."

According to Abbas, Israel announced this project to punish the Palestinians after the UN has voted for elevating Palestine's status to a non-member state.

Abbas arrived in Turkey on Monday for a three-day visit, during which he will be meeting with a number of senior officials.
