European Union Leaders Discuss Call for 'Humanitarian Ceasefire' in Gaza in Brussels

European leaders are deliberating over the next two days in Brussels on calling for a 'humanitarian ceasefire' in the war between Israel and Hamas, aiming to facilitate aid delivery to the Gaza Strip.

The European Union seeks to reach a unified stance on the crisis shaking the Middle East since Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7th, countered by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and the mobilization of forces along its border in preparation for a ground assault.

The leaders of the 27 EU member states are convening in Brussels this afternoon as doubts grow about the West's ability to continue supporting Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion, with attention increasingly focused on the war between Israel and Hamas.
