'Several thousand' evacuated from Russian border region

Several thousand people have been evacuated from the Russian border region of Kursk since Ukraine began a ground incursion more than 24 hours ago, regional governor Alexei Smirnov said.

"Over the course of the last day, with our help, several thousand people left the shelling zone by personal transport," Smirnov said in a video message on Telegram.
