Israel’s Peres expresses shock after Lebanon blamed Israel for Roueis blast

Following a meeting between Israeli President Shimon Peres and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday, Peres expressed shock after learning that Lebanese President Michel Sleiman had accused Israel of being behind the Roueis explosion.

Sleiman had condemned the explosion that rocked south Beirut Thursday, dubbing it an act aiming at destabilizing the country, "marked with the fingerprints of Israel."

On the Middle East, Peres said that the bloodshed must be stopped.

“Israel is not involved and I won’t address specifics,” he said.
