Presidential Statement: Baabda Declaration does not contain any item on Hezbollah or its weapons

The Presidency of the Republic issued on Thursday a statement whereby it declared that the Baabda Declaration does not contain any item concerning Hezbollah or its weapons, but it includes an outline proposed by President Michel Sleiman concerning the national defense strategy.

In the statement read by Brig. Gen. Bassam Yahya, the Presidency noted that the parties that participated in the national dialogue session went over the defense strategy proposal so as to remove all possible points of deliberation.

It is worth noting that President Sleiman read the statement and amended it before its issuance, and expressed his wishes on sending it to the Arab League and the United Nations in a bid to prove Lebanon’s credibility.
