Lebanon’s security forces proceeded on Wednesday for the second consecutive day with the implementation of the security plan at Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, conducting motorized patrols and setting up checkpoints to inspect vehicles.
Meanwhile, sources reported to LBCI that Lebanese Armed Forces have yet to arrest any fugitive in the said region; however, noted that raid operations are ongoing.
Throughout the day, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq visited a number of security points in Beirut’s Dahiyeh region, pointing out that all citizens are widely cooperating with security forces.
He also noted that the plan does not have a specific timeframe, stressing that no political cover can protect fugitives from the law.
On Tuesday (April 29), security forces launched a new security plan in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, conducting patrols across the streets of the southern city of Sidon.
Security forces have also set up checkpoints with vehicles being inspected along with commuters identification papers.
During the day, the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence raided a number of houses in Abra in search of fugitives, and arrested two supporters of fugitive hardline cleric Ahmad al-Assir.
