Refaat Ali Eid speaks out on latest Tripoli clashes, accuses Future bloc of arms sale

Leader of the Lebanese Arab Democratic Party, Refaat Eid, held a press conference live from Tripoli whereby he said that the latest round of clashes in Tripoli have been the most violent.       

"We were taken aback by surprise upon hearing of the Talkalakh incidents," Eid said.                    

In this context, he said that his party was the first to call for the return of the bodies of those who died in Talkalakh, but their call was not met positively, but instead, was met with gunfire that "targeted children".                

Eid considered that Tripoli's politicians are to bear responsibility for the bloodshed in Tripoli and for the death of nationals in Talkalakh.                 

In addition to this, he said that during the past few weeks, Free Syrian Army (FSA) identified arms were being used in the clashes, and "FSA members were fully functional in the region," adding that he has available proof.               

Also in this context, Eid said that International Intelligence, Al-Qaeda, and Fatah Islam are "all over North Lebanon."                           

"The LAF deployment in Bab el-Tebbaneh will definitely reflect positively," he added.         

In reference to Former PM Saad Hariri, Eid said that they promise the failure of rival groups in any attempts against Jabal Mohsen.        

"Following the assassination of late Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan, all havoc wreaked security wise," Eid said and added that they will only retaliate in self defense, but they will not instigate clashes in the region.      

In this framework, Refaat Eid called on the Lebanese Government to place an iron security grip and compensate Tripoli's victims and added that they are ready to give up on their arms if security guarantees are available.                  

The Lebanese Arab Democratic Party Leader accused the Future bloc of selling arms in Tripoli, en route to Syrian rebels and added that MP Okab Sakr and the Lutfallah ship are evidence of "their" involvement in arms sale and transport.                     

"To all those betting on the Syrian regime's downfall, it will not happen," Eid added.      

Speaking about Jihad, Eid said that Jihad is neither in Syria nor in Lebanon, but instead it should be in Palestine.
