Iraq PM threatens to replace Iraqia ministers

Iraq's prime minister threatened to replace the ministers of the Iraqia bloc headed by Ayad Allawi should they keep boycotting the cabinet.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is urging the Kurdish authorities in the north of the country to hand over the Sunni vice president accused of running hit squads that targeted government officials.

Al-Maliki told a news conference on Wednesday that Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi must face justice.

Al-Hashemi has denied the charges that he paid his bodyguards to kill government officials during the heyday of Iraq's insurgency.

The charges against Iraq's highest-ranking Sunni official by the Shiite-led government have thrown Iraq into crisis just days after U.S. troops left the country.
