Salameh to Mikati: Banking sector not targeted as a whole

PM Najib Mikati met with the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon Riad Salameh on Thursday. Salameh briefed Mikati on the financial and banking issues, stressing that Lebanon is committed to the implementation of international banking standards.

Salameh added that the charges filed against the Lebanese-Canadian Bank and a number of money exchangers are an individual case that will be settled through the law.

“We can reassure everyone that the Lebanese banking sector is not targeted as a whole”, Salameh said.

Mikati also met with former Iraqi PM Ayad Allawi to discuss the overall situation in Iarq and Lebanon as well as the regional developments.

The permanent representative of the Kuwaiti fund for Arab economic development to Lebanon Nawaf Fares Al Dabbous informed Mikati of the fund’s projects in Lebanon.

Mikati discussed with MPs Akram Chouhayeb and Nehme Tohme the latest developments.
