Vehicle crackdown campaign begins today, no politician spared

The ISF started on Tuesday a campaign to crack down on contraventions related to motorcycles, illegal vehicles and those with tinted glass.    

After establishing several checkpoints across Lebanese regions, the ISF managed to curb many contraventions related to both motorcycles and passenger vehicles.    

The Commander of the Baabda Traffic Unit Hussein Abdullah told LBCI that “the majority of contraventions curbed so far are related to protective helmets and past due Mechanique (vehicle inspection) fees.”   

In turn, the commander of the Jdeideh Traffic Unit Rony Kossaifeh told LBCI that many citizens were not cooperative; he insisted however that the law will be applied to everyone. It is worth mentioning that politicians’ vehicles were not spared from the checkpoints.             

In the region of al-Bawaba in Tyre, residents attacked the patrol’s members who shot into the air to scatter them.         

Later on, the ISF Directorate General called on cars and motorcycles’ owners to ensure their vehicles are within the legal requirements, adding in a statement that by 16:00 this afternoon, it managed to detain 929 motorcycles and cited 315 tinted window violations, removing the tinting on the scene.
